Verne took the
dogs to San Francisco for beach adventures at Crissy
Field Park.
Millie went "water dog" in a
tidal inlet river chasing a labrador retriever in
the cold bay until she caught her oponent.
|
|
Millie
was very well behaved,
but she had to be
kept on a 25' flexi-lead because when she was
distracted by other dogs, she forgot to obey the
recall command.
Verne had to be
careful with Millie
because running free
around crowds of people and dogs was new to her. It
was easy to create so much confusion that she could
forget who her people were...
Verne could see
how new and exciting everything was to her. It was
like she was dreaming.

Millie wanted to play in the tidal inlet, so Verne took off
her harness with 2-way radio.
He crossed his fingers
as he set her free...

|
|
After Millie caught the black dog Verne had to blow the
ultrasonic whistle over and over while calling
"Millie!
Millie come!"
in his happy voice. After several
minutes Millie began wandering back. Verne walked towards
her praising
"Millie good girl!"
until he could
grab her collar. Whew! That was a bit scary...
